Macao Work #1Sleep Walker
Choreographer / Performer Annette Ng, Karen Hoi Facing the world, the society, and ourselves, there are always things we cannot control. Feeling helplessness and powerlessness. We have no choice but to work everyday. We cannot choose to fly. We cannot choose to make a change. We cannot even choose to voice out, even though we know how absurd this world is. Being the citizens in Macau, we are always looking for a better way to live, to exist in this society. In this surging current of the times. May we hold onto a piece of wood, a fellow companion, and a heart of courage to fight with the storm. Or at least have a choice to escape from the absurdity of this world. Fleeing into a dream may just sound more realistic than the reality Creator’s Word We would like to develop the work to discuss the problems that we are facing nowadays. Some ridiculous issue that human beings would face, some issue that makes people feel helpless, which can’t be changed. Is it really unchangeable? Or people just refuse to face it? We would like to share the vision as Macau artists, the place nurtured us which we love and hate at the same time. Creator: Annette Ng

Macao Work #2Monster in Wardrobe
Choreographer / Performer Cynthia Sio What is trapped in the wardrobe? What is moaning inside? The body which is trapped. The soul which is hanged. Idea behind this production I was given the title "Could I not wear it?" for choreographing during quarantine. When I first heard this title, my first thought was "Why did you ask?". And then I suddenly figured out that most of the time we ask questions, but it doesn't seem like we're really asking questions. We clearly already have an answer in our hearts. Asking questions is only to seek approval from others for the answers in our hearts. Then I found out that, in fact, whenever we ask a question, we become the question itself. Thinking about it in this way, when I have watched everyone, especially in the COVID century, keep throwing the question "When can I be free?" to the world, I'm wondering if we should figure out what "I" is before asking this question. If you don't even know what you are, how could you know what makes you unfree and what holds you back? “What are you?” “What is me?” Perhaps, after knowing what the "root of the problem" is, the following question will not be asked anymore. Macao Work #3Working Title
About Gray Creators Sonia Lao、Akitsugu Fukushima Performers Sonia Lao、Ku Man Ian About Gray Inspired by Tanigawa Shuntaro’s poem “ A Personal Opinion about Gray ”,the creators uses the sound frequency of 174 – 963 Hz to draw the subtle resonance between body and sound in order to find the absurd area between black and white. Creator’s Word In this work, I wanted to explore the most organic relationship between sound and body, so I invited my Japanese friend Akitsugu to develop this piece with me. During the discussion, I shared with him a poem that I liked, " A Personal Opinion about Gray ". It was also because the book was bilingual in Chinese and Japanese, so naturally we started to share the pictures we felt in the poem, the speed and weight, and the definition of "grey" in our own mind, thus setting the visual tone of the show. And what are the sound and bodies exploring? I hope to find the most direct, organic and balance relationship between the sound and the body through dance theatre work, which can lead the power of the original kinetic energy of the body. This relationship is not only between the dancer and the music, also between the audience and the music. It reminds me the singing bowl experience that I had, the feeling of my soul almost being pull out from the top of my head, the natural body reaction of the “Solfeggio frequency”, People often use it as spiritual healing in sound meditation. After discussion and research, we used this specific sound frequency output from electronic system as the backbone of this work. "Minimalism" of body, sound and lighting is the core element of this work. To me, Black and white, is the distance between closing and opening eyes, they are infinitely close and infinitely far from each other. How about gray? It is the "take to heart" issues that lives deep in everyone's mind but have long been forgotten. It doesn't have to be negative, it has an indescribable weight, neither heavy nor light, however, secretly influencing your every choice. Creator: Sonia Lao
